Can My Employer Charge Me a Fee to Work?


No!


In both Connecticut and Massachusetts, it is illegal for an employer to charge an employee a fee as a condition of employment. As obvious as this seems, unfortunately not all employer understand and abide by this rule.

Some industries are particularly prone to this practice. For example, exotic dancers are frequently charged various fees a condition of their employment.
